  1. What I did last week-end.

On Friday morning I did my daughter's hair. Then we all travelled to Birmingham to see our family friend. We enjoyed ourselves.

On Saturday we woke up very late. We ladies did the cooking and then we all went out and came back late.

On Sunday morning my family and my friend's family all ent to Church and it was fantastic. We came back yesterday evening. The children said thank you to their Daddy for taking them to Birmingham.

  2. I'm glad you all enjoyed your trip to Birmingham. I like how you have written about the different days in separate paragraphs. You could easily expand your story to tell us more about your trip. For example, how was the journey down to Birmingham? How was the traffic? Were the children good in the car? What were your friends' names? Have you known them long? How would you describe them? Where did you go on Saturday after you had done all that cooking! We would all love to know more.

  3. Last week was a very good week because my children broke from school. So I took them to visit family friends in London. We had a nice time. When we came back we were so tired because it was a long journey. But it was good because the children enjoyed it.

  4. Hello Georgina

It must have been very exciting for the children to visit London. Did you manage to see any of the sights?

  5. I travelled to London last year. The train I got on was just hideous. A lot of children and teenagers were just making a noise, drinking and some of them were secretly rubbing their dirty food hands on everywhere. I was so angry I just cried in my heart. Well, miraculously there were some sensible, educated men in the train too and we started talking wisely and quietly.
Finally we got to London and I went to my friend’s place. I met up with him and we laughed and we went to the pub together. We bought some food and drinks and we ate and enjoyed ourselves. The next day we went to see the Houses of Parliament. The place was so beautifully decorated with rose flowers and hibiscus flowers. It was so beautiful.
After five days I left London to go back to Leeds in the train. Again, I met these mad teenagers. In short, they were born to make a noise. They were the worst teenagers I have ever met. Somehow they all fell asleep, but the problem was they were snoring so loud they were stopping me from sleeping. This is the story of my travels to London.

  6. Hello John

I'm glad you enjoyed visiting your friend in London despite your nightmare journey. It reminds me of a time when I ended up travelling with a really rowdy group of football supporters - a reall nuisance if you planned to do some work, read or try to sleep on the train! It's a good story John.

  7. Last Saturday I was at home. I did not go anywhere. One of my friends came to visit me. I cooked African food. We ate and we watched some movies. On Sunday, I wanted to go to Church but I did not go because I was very tired and I had to look after my son.

  8. My husband , daughter and I went to Bangladesh on the 8’th of April 2009 ,on our wedding anniversary day . As the plane took off from the ground my daughter began to fall ill, her body was very cold , she wasn’t talking much and wasn’t eating anything but water . We could see all her veins on all parts of her body , even the smallest of veins ware showing. My husband began to get scared so I had to put him in place and tell him not to do that because if she sees him getting scared then she will get scared as well .

We got to Dubai to change onto another plane so we had to sit and wait . We had no water or food for my daughter so I told my husband to ask the man at the counter to let him ( my husband) go and buy a drink for her. He went and came back to tell me that the man said no, so I told him to go again but he wouldn’t - so I did . I spoke quickly to the man and told him “ Look, my daughter hasn’t eaten anything for the last two days and she is living off water so you have to let me through and get her something or you can do it yourself !“ . I don’t think the man had much chooses but to let me pass because he was at work . I went to the shop and bought her some water and drink , went back and then got on the plane to go to Dhaka (Bangladesh).

It took over 12 hours , I think , to get to Bangladesh . When we got there we collected our bags and left the airport but our journey wasn’t finished yet. We got onto a bus that took us to Sylhet . It took about 4 hours to get there and finally a family member was at the bus station with a car to take us home which took about 30 to 45 minutes . My daughter was still ill and wouldn’t eat anything but water and drinks . She started to feel better after a week so we thought it will be OK to go to see my sister who lived in Chittagong in the Army post with her husband and two children, a girl and a boy .
My daughter was starting to get a bad stomach and getting more ill which we didn’t find out until we arrived at my sister’s house .

We got on the bus at day time . The bus stopped at many bus stops to allow us to eat something and get rest because it was a very long journey . We were halfway there , it was the middle off the night, when suddenly the bus driver started to drive the bus very quickly going over the road bumps , moving side to side. There was a time when everyone thought the bus was going to tilt over . I asked my husband what was happening and then he said there were people in gangs ,burglars , who rob the buses on this street sometimes , at night . The bus suddenly stopped and all the men went out to see what was happening. They found out that there was a big tree laying on the road which was purposely put there . Luckily police were there who cleared the road . Everyone got on the bus and the driver drove as away.

We got to my sister’s house and I was so happy to see her and her family . We saw each other after two years . I told her what happened on the bus . The next day we found out there was a bus that got robbed on the same night we travelled and on the same road . Thankfully it wasn’t us .

  9. Your family must have been very relieved to see you after such an eventful journey Pollobi! I travelled to Malaysia last year with my husband to a conference and also stopped off in Dubai. It was just a quick turn around to allow them to refuel the plane, but I remember being so hot, tired and uncomfortable. I can't imagine how difficult this must have been with a little girl - but what an adventure!

  10. Last Saturday my daughter phoned me. I had not seen her for a while. She said she wanted to surprise me and to take me somewhere special on Sunday as a treat and to dress smart. I was very excited and when Sunday came and we went to Bradford to a posh restaurant. We were given a menu to order, so we ordered and when the waiter came round with our food he started to put the plates down. I thought I would be polite and help him but he wouldn’t let me. I could not understand why until he went and my daughter explained to me that you do not do that because it is their job. No wonder I got funny looks from him every time he passed. I don’t think I would be in too much of a hurry, to go there next time after that embarrassing moment. I think my daughter was a bit embarrassed, but she was too nice to say.

  11. You are too kind Naseem and I don’t think the waiter would have been embarrassed at all serving such a nice lady. I think it was really nice of your daughter to take you out and something you should definitely do more often. You’ll soon get used to people running after you!

  12. On Saturday I got up early in the morning about 5 am. This was because I have to go to church. I usually go to church every Sunday afternoon, but once a month every Saturday we have a mass prayer. We all enjoyed the ceremony and I met my old friends who I haven’t seen for quite a long time. After that I went to Costco to do my weekly shopping. I also had my snack over there, but by the time I arrived home I was very tired and went to bed earlier than usual. All in all I had a really great day. Sunday was, as always, washing, cooking, cleaning and ironing and much more housework done by 6 pm. Thanks to God at last I relaxed.
